To whom it may concern:
Hi - I am doing research on Universities and their use of third party Online Program Managers to create online equivalent degrees of on-campus programs.
Specifically, I'm looking to understand the contractual arrangements between University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (“UNC”) and 2U Inc. (“TWOU”). I would like to review the Master Service Agreements (“MSAs”) that UNC has in place with TWOU; to date my understanding is that UNC has several MSAs:
- Kenan-Flagler Business School to provide an online MBA and Masters of Accounting (July 2011)
- School of Government to provide a Master’s in Public Administration (January 2013)
- An agreement to provide Master’s in Public Health (Expected August 2018)
The reason I am requesting this information is to better understand the incentives and potential conflict of interests that may be inherent in these MSAs. This information should be of great interest to the public as one can envision third party Online Program Managers being incentivized to re-direct students to highest tuition degrees and highest revenue share paying Universities, diverting them from a better fit University / Degree that may be lower tuition or where a University is paying the Online Program Manager a lower revenue share. Please reach out with any questions or comments.
I prefer copies in electronic format (emailed to me), as I hope this will expedite my request.
