Request #18-145
  Closed

Pursuant to the state open records law N.C. Gen. Stat. Secs. 132-1 to 132-10, I write to request access to and a copy of any grand jury subpoenas issued to the school since the start of 2017 from the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York or any other federal agency tied to the federal investigation into corruption within college basketball. This could include subpoenas seeking interviews or records such as communication logs, email exchanges or phone records. If your agency does not maintain these public records, please let me know who does and include the proper custodian's name and address.

I would prefer to receive any subpoenas electronically. If only hard copies are available, I agree to pay any reasonable copying and postage fees of not more than $10. If the cost would be greater than this amount, please notify me. Please provide a receipt indicating the charges for each document.

Responding to a similar request, North Carolina State University released a copy of a January 2018 subpoena in the case as a public record after consultation with the state attorney general’s office. If you choose to deny this request, please let me know why and provide all segregable portions of otherwise exempt material.

Thank you for your assistance, and please let me know if you have any questions about the request.
