As part of a research project examining how labor market regulations and immigration policies affect academic and scientific labor markets, I write to request salary information for salaried employees (including post-doctoral scholars) on an annual basis from academic year 2008-09 to the 2018-19 academic year. My understanding is that your office can facilitate access to these files and that the information that I am requesting is public.
The data request includes individual-level information on all University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill non-student, salaried employees for 2008-09 to 2018-19, including each employee’s name, title, academic department, salary, annual basis (i.e., 9 month or 12 month, if available), and date of hire (if available). If possible, I would greatly prefer files in a machine readable format, such as .csv, .xls or .dta formats.
While similar information for the most recent year appears to be posted by media outlets, my aim is to assemble data from the primary source and to include prior years.
One clarification may facilitate the processing of this request: my understanding is that many universities record salaries at a "point in time" (eg 12/31 or 10/31); a snapshot is fine for my purposes, so long as the date for each year is specified.
